How to clean alvababy diapers - WASHING TIPS


Do I need to pre-wash any of the items?

Because there are several people touching our products before they reach you, we do suggest that you prewash everything before use

  • Before first use

 The new diapers should be washed at least once before use. Materials such as cotton microfiber and can be washed once before use. The natural fabrics as bamboo require more washes to increase its absorption, it increases its absorption after washed and used several times. It should also be washed three times before use but need not be washed separately. Reaches its maximum absorption with 8 washes.

  • Care in the wash

The fabric protector, wet bag and the wipes can be washed with the diapers. The biodegradable paper if you just pee can be washed along with the diapers and reused. If it is a Velcro diaper close it before putting the diaper in the washing machine, so they don't stick together and unscrew the springs. Diapers should not go to the dryer as It may damage but with the absolvents there is no problem.

  • Other wash tips

Wash cold.

Pre-wash cold to remove waste and fight stains

Line-dry covers and diaper shells.

Wash dirty diapers every other day.

If your diapers still stink, wash again.Consideng using fragrance-free cloth diaper detergent. To some people, additives like vinegar or baking soda works well. A small amount of baking sodar or vinegar might help to deoderize.

Once per month, use up to 1/4 cup oxygen bleach in the hot wash cycle (step 3) to sanitize diapers and fight odors.
To remove stains, lay clean, wet diapers in the sun.

What detergent can I use?

Ingredients in certain detergents may ruin your cloth diapers or cause your baby to have a diaper rash. When washing cloth diapers, always use a detergent free of perfumes, dyes, whiteners, brighteners, softeners, enzymes, or other fabric enhancers. Using too much detergent may cause cloth diapers to leak.

What about the dryer?

Everyone has their own comments regarding whether or not to dry cloth diapers. We recommend that you dry your pocket diapers as often as you want to. I personally dry mine on high with every wash. Drying your diapers in the dryer will actually help to keep them functioning perfectly.

How can I get my hook & loop tabs to fasten as firmly as they used to?

Easy! By washing your diaper and then drying it in the dryer, the heat will cause the hook & loop to recontract and fasten more firmly again. 


The creams may cover the fibers of the diaper by reducing its absorption. When using protective creams should always use a paper or fabric protector. Softener should not use since it reduces the absorbency of the fabrics. Instead of fabric softener can put a little white vinegar in the fabric softener drawer. The vinegar helps soften the tissues. Should be used with caution because excessive use can damage the diapers. Do not use bleach or abrasives to remove stains. The use of these products reduces the lifetime of your product and void the warranty of diapers. If there are stains, the solution is to extend the diaper to the sun, is a disinfectant and a bleach natural.
